With the Familia War won, Hestia and her Familia move into Apollo’s mansion. There’s a bit of work to do and the chance to recruit some new members, but first, they should take a moment to relax.
What did you watch?
After the excitement of last week’s episode, it’s time to slow down for a moment and appreciate everything that’s happened up to this point. This is episode 5 of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II. Not a lot happened, but I still enjoyed it. It did seem that someone was super proud of the new Hestia Familia crest because I lost count of how many times this image was shown. Anyhow, there will be spoilers. It is a nice crest, though…
Liliruca had one last audience with her old god, Soma and for once he openly acknowledged her. Maybe, she’s made an impact on him and we’ll see a change in his Familia’s attitude. Maybe not, but it’s going to be interesting to see. With that done, Lili and Hestia returned to their new home and found Bell, Welf, and Mikoto unpacking. With all the work done, they finally get to have a celebratory dinner and on top of winning the war game, Bell has levelled up again.
As part of the renovations, Hestia had hot baths and a forge installed for Mikoto and Welf respectively. It cost a lot of money, but she wanted to thank them for joining. Next Hestia revealed that they were going to have a recruitment drive. Thanks to the Familia War win over Apollo, everyone wants to join. Bell and Hestia are excited, while the others are a little more reserved, Liliruca especially as she weeds out the competition for Bell’s affection.
What did you think?
I loved the last episode so much, that it really didn’t matter what followed, it was never going to live up to it. So, in that respect, it was good to have a slower episode. That said, I still really enjoyed it. There were lots of cute and funny moments as they settled into their new home and the recruitment drive provided plenty of laughs too. Really, they could just about do anything with these characters and I’d have a good time.
What was your favourite moment?
I thought it was hilarious that we had the hot bath dynamic flipped. Bell and Welf were relaxing in the men’s side and having a good discussion. Bell felt like he would never be able to repay anyone for their help, but Welf reminded him that he has already helped them all more than he realised. Of course, neither of them knew that Hestia, Liliruca, and Mikoto were in the women’s bath listening to the entire conversation. Then, when Bell praised Hestia, Liliruca and Mikoto had to stop her from climbing over the wall to be with him. The whole scene just made me laugh.
What was your least favourite moment?
This seems like a fairly easy one. Bell and Hestia were outside to greet all the potential new recruits and the newfound glory had gone to Hestia’s head. She began to whip up the crowd and pump her arms in the air. It was definitely one of the most cringeworthy things I’ve seen. I find those sorts of things to be very odd and they make me uncomfortable in real life, so seeing something like that pop up in an anime I love was not what I wanted. It was funny when it all finally came crashing down, but it made me cringe.
Who was your favourite character?
I don’t think anyone really stood out in this episode, so I’m going to say that Mikoto was my favourite character for stopping Hestia’s activities with the crowd. She had discovered the debt that Hestia had taken on to purchase Bell’s knife and it was a lot. We knew that, but the news was somewhat of a surprise to the others, especially Bell. It also sent all of the potential new recruits running for the hills.
Who was your least favourite character?
Again, I don’t think anyone really stood out in either direction. Shall I give it Hestia for making me cringe? Maybe, but then she was great in the hot bath and it’s hard to dislike her at all. I think I’ll give it to Apollo for the unusual way that he had decorated his mansion.
Would you like some more?
At the end of this episode, as most were relaxing and enjoying themselves, Mikoto received some troubling news. We don’t know what it was about, but it can’t be good judging by her reaction. We then saw an image of a fox lady, no doubt a goddess who may spell trouble for the group. They’ve also agreed to help Hestia with her debt and that means it’s time to hit the dungeons again. So, yeah, there’s plenty to look forward to.
