It’s Norman’s adoption day and he appears to have accepted his fate, but will Emma and Ray let him?
What did you watch? I’m still on vacation, but have managed to keep one thing going and that is The Promised Neverland. I just can’t let myself fall fowl of the numerous spoilers out there.
So, as a warning to you. If you too wish to avoid spoiling episode 10 of The Promised Neverland run away now and come back once you’ve seen it. Then you can let me know what you thought. Right let’s get down to business.
What happened? Norman informs Emma and Ray of his discoveries on top of the wall. He’s found a bridge over the cliff, but it’s the other side of HQ and who knows what lurks there?
They try to convince him to run, but he refuses, determined that he will not cause the death of another. Then Phil shows up and tells Norman that Mom is waiting for him.
He goes to his bed and prepares to leave the orphanage. While packing his bag he finds an old string telephone from the time he got sick and Emma wanted to talk to him. It’s the only thing he takes, but there’s no sign of the box Sister Krone left him!
Norman says his farewells before Mom walks him down to the gatehouse. He makes his way to the truck where they found Conny, but Mom ushers him into a waiting room.
Emma and Ray struggle with the loss of their friend and the damage it caused to their plans to escape. Mom tells Emma that she wants to put her forward to become a Mom, but she refuses.
What hooked you? If last episode was the death of hope, then this was the slippery slope of dispair. It was heartbreaking watching Norman give in and the effects it had on Emma and Ray, but we haven’t seen any proof that Norman is gone. Sure, Mom told Emma that, but who knows…
What was your favourite thing? There was one line that really caught my attention. When Mom tried to recruit Emma she said ‘Become an adult, have a child, and if they approve you abilities…’
Hold up! Did she say have a child? That was a pretty big piece of information that Krone failed to mention. Does this mean that’s Isabella is an actual Mom too? I can’t help but feel like this was Krone’s trump card. I would also assume that Krone had a child too. This is just getting darker and darker and I love it!
What was your least favourite thing? That I have to wait another week for the next one! I know, I can’t have both. Either I avoid the spoilers or I find some way to cryogenically freeze myself until episode 12 has been released…
Who was your favourite character? I loved the way all the characters were used in this episode, but Mom was just at the top of her game today. She had some insane lines and gave some of the most inappropriately timed self-satisfied smiles. She really is an incredible villain.
Who was your least favourite character? Phil!!! What the hell, Phil. Something is going on. Norman even told him to take his place in helping Emma. Has Norman been secretly building a team of youngsters as a backup? I’ve no idea, but it’s definitely time to reveal what part Phil hasn’t to play, otherwise it’ll start to look like lazy writing because there are 37 children in total.
Are you ready for more? Once again, The Promised Neverland has left us gasping for more with the final moment of the episode. This time it’s to find out what Emma and Ray have really been up to when they’ve been giving the impression that they’ve given up. This series is excellent. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
