Achievement Unlocked Award

Achievement Unlocked Award

So, I’ve been nominated for a geeky blogging award… does that mean I’m a geek? [Looks around as everyone else averts their gaze.] I’m kidding! Of course, I’m a geek.

What’s going on?

I love getting nominated for stuff. It’s like a massive pat on the back or friendly head rub if you’re talking about anime, which I more often than not am. So, thank you, Megan, from A Geeky Gal for the nomination, especially as you only nominated three other bloggers. I’m honoured that you wasted one of your wishes on me…

If you’re not already following Megan, as unbelievable as that may be, you really should. She’s a 3D modeler by day and geek by night, covering everything from anime and gaming, to poetry and even her wedding. Seriously, there’s something for everyone, but wait until you’ve finished reading this post. Megan has set some interesting questions for me to answer.

Make it Harem Anime!!!!

A little while back I was tagged in a Make it Anime Tag post. You can see my original responses here – Make it Anime! It was a lot of fun trying to come up with a book, movie, and TV series that could be converted to an anime. I liked all of my picks, however, the most fun idea was the gender-flipped version of Predator, which I am now giving the working title of Magical Girls versus Predator.

So, why are we here again. Well, would you believe it, but I’ve been tagged once more. This time I need to thank Dewbond for the nomination and this time around, I’ve decided to make it a little more… I’m going to say fun, but you might want to call it something else. Not only am I going to pick a book, movie, and TV series to transform into an anime, but I’m going to transform them into a harem anime!

As before, here are the rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog post.
  • Choose 1 Book, Movie and TV show of your choice that you think could work as an anime. (A series of books or movies is allowed e.g. Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games)
    • If you want to pick more than 1 from each section that’s fine. Or if you can’t think of one for a specific category that’s fine also.
  • Explain why you think your choices could work as an anime. Maybe the advent of animation would enhance it, maybe the different anime genres could help expand and improve the story. Just go crazy with it.
  • Link back to the original post (this post) so I can read people’s suggestions, I’d love to read everyone’s ideas.
  • Include Make it Anime in your tags so everyone including myself can find them all easily.
  • Nominate around 5-10 bloggers.

I hope you’re ready for this!

3 Days 3 Quotes Tag (Day 3)

Well, here we are. It’s the third and final day of the 3 Days 3 Quotes tag, so thanks again to Yomu for nominating me. I enjoyed searching through quotes and trying to find ones that spoke to me.

If you missed the earlier quotes, don’t worry. Here are the links to Day 1 and Day 2.

So, this should be interesting as I like the quote and the meaning, although I think it has a small flaw, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

“Even a pawn can take down a King.”

That was the lovely Rias Gremory from High School DxD giving Issei some encouragement. Now, I love the sentiment of the statement. It gives hope to the lowest ranked piece in a game of chess that they can defeat the highest ranked piece. Who doesn’t want to think that they can achieve greatness from such a humble position.

So, that’s great, but if you know anything about chess, you’ll know that the pawn cannot take down the king alone. I don’t think there is any position that it could do it alone.

Who knows, maybe Rias was saying that you also need to rely on the team and their individual strengths. Maybe, I’m just reading too much into it. Anyhow, it’s a cool quote and that’s all that matters.

Stop overthinking it and just be cool.

So, this is my final nomination for the tag and I choose… Alexie the Great at Alex’s Arena. Again, no pressure to keep it going, but it would be great if it did. There are far too many awesome quotes to stop now.

And that’s that. I hope you enjoyed my selection of quotes, basically, never give up, remain positive, and don’t be afraid to take on the mightiest of opponents. Thanks for reading.

3 Days 3 Quotes Tag (Day 2)

This is day two of 3 Days 3 Quotes. I can’t believe it’s almost over already… Ha! That’s a little glass half-empty humour, something that wouldn’t sit too well with the owner of today’s quote.

If you missed Day 1, don’t worry. You can find it here.

All right, let’s get on with Day 2.

“Whatever you do, enjoy it to the fullest. That is the secret of life.”

If you’ve seen Fate/Zero then you’ll be familiar with Rider laughing and drinking and just generally doing whatever he wants. He reminds me of the vikings in The Thirteenth Warrior who basically did the same thing for the entire movie.

So, this is another great quote in my mind. Sure, there are times when we’re doing crappy things that don’t really fulfil us, but if we could just enjoy ourselves a little more wouldn’t that be considerably more bearable.

All of the most enjoyable jobs I’ve had were more about the people I worked with and less about the work being done. It just goes to show that if you are enjoying yourself, even the most mundane tasks can fly by. Basically, it doesn’t hurt to have a positive attitude.

Seriously, which one of these two looks to be having more fun? I’ll give you a clue, it’s not the grumpy looking one in the bottom left corner.

With my second nomination, I choose… animeandfanfiction. Again, no pressure. Feel free to ignore if it’s not something you want to do.

The next quote is coming tomorrow, same place, same time. See you then!

3 Days 3 Quotes Tag (Day 1)

Recently, I was tagged by Yomu in the 3 Days 3 Quotes Tag. This is day one, so expect another inspiring quote tomorrow and then one the day after. After that, you’re on your own!

Here are the links to Yomu’s quotes: Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. I’ve got to say, I’m a big fan of Day 3’s quote and can relate to that.

As with all tag posts, there are rules.

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post three quotes on three consecutive days.
  3. Nominate three bloggers to do the same.

Sounds easy enough. So, thanks Yomu for the nomination and recognizing that I would love the chance to write up three more posts. Now, let’s get on with the first quote.

“There is nothing crueller than letting a dream end midway.”

Shouta Aizawa said this in My Hero Academia. He comes across as a hardened and pessimistic teacher, however, he’s proven time and again that he’ll inspire and defend his students no matter what they’re up against.

I think that this is such a great quote as it works on two levels. Firstly, it’s saying that you shouldn’t give up on your dream. Don’t let it end before you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. Secondly, it can mean that you shouldn’t trample on other’s dreams. If anything you should encourage and inspire them to keep fighting.

This series has so many inspiring moments that I could have probably picked all three of my quotes from it, but don’t worry, I didn’t.

So, I’m going to do things the same way Yomu did by nominating one blogger a day. Let’s keep the inspiring anime quotes coming. Alternatively, if you have a dark anime quote, I’m all for that too.

With my first nomination, I choose… Amelia at A Girl & Her Anime as another thank you for the Real Neat Award nomination. There is no pressure.

The next quote is coming tomorrow, same place, same time. See you then!
