Otaku on Writing Podcast – Episode 21

What are you talking about this week? So, following on from the obscene discussion of Dominion Tank Police (you might want to check out last week’s episode!), we shall attempt to brainstorm some ideas for another collection of stories. This is going to be interesting!

One line pitch! Otaku after dark…

Any other news? Did I mention that we love reviews? If you enjoy the podcast, please leave a review on iTunes. It helps others find us. Also, if you’ve read any of the Otaku Stories, you can leave a review for them too. Hooray… reviews… Thank you very much.

And now for our regularly scheduled entertainment…

Dominion Tank Police

What did you watch and why? It was my turn to pick a classic anime for Otaku on Writing and since Jon stole the pick that I had lined up – Vampire Hunter D, I selected Dominion Tank Police from my original VHS anime collection. Obviously, that means that I have fond memories of rewatching this series when I was younger. I hope it holds up to the nostalgia.

One line pitch! Female officer joins the notorious Tank Police, battling criminals and misogyny…

What’s it really about? A large bacteria cloud covers most of the Earth making it hard to breath outside. Crime is rampant and the Tank Police was created to fight back. Leona has just transferred to the Tank Police and is eager to get to work.

Otaku on Writing Podcast – Episode 20

What are you talking about this week? I picked the original four-part Dominion Tank Police as our next anime to watch and review. We’ve all seen it, now to find if it lived up to our memories. This could get ugly!

One line pitch! Freud would have a field day with this…

Any other news? We now have six Otaku Stories collections. It’s hard to believe we’ve been that productive and they look pretty cool all lined up together. Don’t you think?

One line pitch! Everything should have catgirls…

Any other news? We released the latest Otaku Stories yesterday to coincide with Halloween because if you don’t have vampires, are you really doing it right? Grab your copy of Bloodline for just 99 cents.

Vampire Hunter D

What did you watch and why? This was selected by Jon as a part of the Otaku on Writing podcast where we analyze classic anime to inspire original fiction. Also, I loved this movie when I was younger, and if Jon hadn’t selected it, I would have done with my next pick.

One line pitch! Wandering vampire hunter wins big contract to protect farmgirl from a vampire noble…

What’s it really about? Set in the distant future where humanity competes with vampires and other creatures of the night. A vampire noble selects a human girl to be his next bride. Desperate to avoid the fate she hires a vampire hunter to kill the ancient and powerful noble.
