It’s been a busy couple of months. As you know, I released volumes one to three in June. Volume four became available at the beginning of July and would you believe it volume five goes live on August 3. On top of that, I was also featured in a flash fiction anthology. I’m currently working on the edits for volume seven, which isn’t due until October so plenty of time (although I’d like to have eight, nine, and ten fully edited by then as well.)
Amazingly, I already have my first review and it’s from someone I don’t know which makes it all the more special. It’s also a five-star review from a very observant reader who’s spotted all the key questions. On top of that, the reader got my sense of humour, which is very difficult to get across. If you’ve read any of my books it would be amazing if you would take a moment to leave a review.
On top of all that, I’ve been working with a couple of other authors, Jon Cronshaw and Killian Carter, on the Black Death trilogy, a post-apocalyptic story set in the UK. I finished the first draft of my part of the story. This is going to be awesome. I can’t wait for it to go live. Continue reading “Author Journey July 2018”
Well, it’s finally happening. I’ve been working on my series, Valiant Lineage, for over two years. It may seem like a long time, but in the scale of things, it is… If you remember, I released three volumes of Valiant back at the beginning of 2016. Then I moved cities and life got in the way. It was probably for the best because it forced me to work out what I wanted to do and how I was going to do it.
I decided to unpublish the original books and take a year to really develop the story. After a year focused on writing and little else, I had built up a story of epic proportions. Given my love of manga, anime, and short stories, I kept to the serial format. Each book is an individual story but also contribute to the overall arc, weaving together an elaborate tail.
As of right now, the first three books are available to buy from Amazon, or they’re free to read if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription. Book four will be released on Friday, July 6. After that, I will release the next volume on the first Friday of each month until we reach the end. So, buckle up, it’s going to be a long ride. Continue reading “Author Journey June 2018”
What is sleep? I’ve never been a fan of sleep, it always felt like a waste of time. There is so much more I could do if I didn’t need to sleep. Over the years, I think I’ve slowly trained myself to need less and less sleep. Even so, having a new-born who runs on his own schedule and a pre-schooler who has opinions and a massive fear of missing out is eating into what little sleep I am able to get.
Writing has been slow at best. I have been editing like a machine, whenever I have a break or a moment of silence. Mostly on my phone, but that’s the beauty of having a device with that sort of capabilities in your pocket. I don’t know where I would be without my phone.
So, during May I put my story from the Alteruvium Expanse up for preorder on Amazon. Asteroidea is a homage to the classic creature feature. Think gritty industrial complex on a frigid ice-planet where some freaky creatures hunt down the workers and a couple of scientists. If you enjoy movies like Alien then you’re going to get a kick out of Asteroidea. It is 99c/99p or the equivalent in your local currency.

April has been a crazy month. Sleep is at a premium, but I’m pushing forwards. Actually, I’ve been very productive. I have my story for the Alteruvium Expanse coming out on June 11 and I decided to capitalize on this by starting the release for Valiant Lineage on June 15.
That has meant that I have a lot of loose ends to tie off before then. I have a list and I’m working my way through it. So far, it’s going very well. I finished the final proof for Asteroidea (that’s my story for the Alteruvium Expanse) and will have that ready to go up for pre-order in early May.
On top of that, I have put together a prequel story for Valiant Lineage that I will give away for free if you sign up for my mailing list. It’s called a mailing list, but don’t worry it’s only going to be me talking to you about new releases, special offers, and zombies… I will never recommend a book or product that I haven’t read/watched and don’t genuinely love. And I am exhausted! March has been a very busy month. I managed to squeeze in some editing for Valiant Lineage and a little bit of work on the Black Death trilogy. It wasn’t much, but I knew this was going to be a slow month and I’ll tell you why.
My wife gave birth to our second son. So, I hope you’ll forgive me for not writing as many words as normal. At present we are in the sleepless phase, feeding and changing every couple of hours. Everyone is doing great, well, except for the sleep deprivation, but then I never did like sleeping.
It’s usually the big life events like this that make you step back and evaluate what you’re trying to do. The big question for me is ‘why do I write?’. It’s not exactly easy and it takes a lot of time. Imagine working a full-time job and then giving yourself huge amounts of homework. It’s crazy, right. Nobody likes homework.
