What did you watch and why? This was selected by Jon as a part of the Otaku on Writing podcast where we analyze classic anime to inspire original fiction. Also, I loved this movie when I was younger, and if Jon hadn’t selected it, I would have done with my next pick.

One line pitch! Wandering vampire hunter wins big contract to protect farmgirl from a vampire noble…

What’s it really about? Set in the distant future where humanity competes with vampires and other creatures of the night. A vampire noble selects a human girl to be his next bride. Desperate to avoid the fate she hires a vampire hunter to kill the ancient and powerful noble.

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie

When former CIA agent Cammy White assassinates a Justice Minister, Interpol sends Chun Li to find out why. She teams up with Captain Guile of the United States Military as they hunt down Shadowlaw and its mysterious leader M. Bison.

Bison is currently recruiting and he’s handpicking the finest street fighters and martial artists the world has to offer, but his ultimate prize remains elusive. A fighter known only as Ryu continues to evade him.

Settling on Ryu’s former sparring partner Ken, Bison manages to lure him out and now seeks to test himself against what he believes is the highest rated fighter in the world. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

All Might has been invited to the floating research island I. It’s the summer break at school and he has asked Midoriya to accompany him. Once they’ve cleared the state of the art security they are greeted by Melissa Shield, the daughter of All Might’s old partner.

Noticing that All Might is struggling to keep his hero form, David Shield convinces Melissa to give Midoriya a preview of the I-expo, a fair for all things hero related. Midoriya quickly learns that he’s not the only member of Class 1A to have come to the island.

During a fancy reception to officially open the I-Expo a team of villains take over the island, capturing all the pro-heroes. Midoriya and his friends will have to overcome incredible odds if they are to save the day. Continue reading “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes”

Project A-ko

Sixteen years after a mysterious object burst through the Earth’s atmosphere and destroyed Graviton City things are starting to return to normal… A-ko is a sixteen-year-old girl who is already late for her first day at Graviton High School. Thanks to her superhuman speed and strength, she manages to get herself and best friend C-ko to school before the buzzer.

There they encounter B-ko, a rich and snobby girl who takes an interest in C-ko and is willing to do whatever it takes to get A-ko out of the picture, including utilizing her ability to build weaponised mecha.

As if that wasn’t enough, they are being watched by the mysterious Operative D who believes he’s found the missing princess… A giant spaceship enters the Earth’s atmosphere making short work of the defence forces, but A-ko and B-ko are in the middle of a fight and they’re not going to let that stop them. Akira – 30th Anniversary Review

In July 1988, Tokyo was destroyed in a massive explosion. Thirty-one years later, Neo-Tokyo has emerged from the ashes. Following the massive redevelopment, projects work is starting to dry up, leaving the people struggling to make ends meet. Crime is out of control. Biker gangs fight for turf, destroying anything and anyone that gets in their way.

When Tetsuo comes into contact with a psychic who recently escaped from a secret government laboratory, abilities he never knew existed awaken. The government captures Tetsuo and confines him to the research facility, scared that he possesses the same potential as Akira, the source of the original explosion.

Kaneda will do everything in his power to free his friend, Tetsuo. With the help of a group of resistance fighters, he breaks into the facility, but Tetsuo no longer needs his help, he doesn’t need anyone’s help anymore.
