That’s it for the Fall Anime schedule for 2018. All of my season reviews are available for completed seasons, however, there are three series that are continuing into the Winter 2019 schedule. Two of those I am very happy about and one appears to be moving in the right direction. So, all in I’m quite happy with how things are going.
Obviously, this means that I will be diving into the Winter schedule soon, although, as before, I will be watching them in batches of four. That means I’ve got a bit of time to kill, which is nice. I think I’ll look at catching up on some older series that I’ve not got around to yet.
As before, I have placed each series into a tier based on my opinion. They’re not ranked within tiers as I don’t believe in scoring. You may agree or disagree with where I’ve placed them and that’s fine. We don’t have to agree on everything. The tiers have slightly different names this time as it’s not about whether I continue watching them or not.
I didn’t drop any shows from the Fall schedule, although there’s a couple I do think I should have.
Radiant appears to be moving in the right direction. Admittedly, I’m not sure how I made it to twelve as I’ve only really enjoyed four episodes and three of those were in the nine to twelve batch. Hopefully, the ratio doesn’t stay the same.
Hinomaru Sumo continues to surprise me and I’m looking forward to watching another twelve episodes of that. The fights are so intense and very strategic, which is something I wasn’t expecting.
I have already started one show in the Winter Schedule and that is The Promised Neverland. This is a series that I think you will want to go into blind. Unfortunately, I caught a couple of spoilers on Twitter, so rather than waiting, I’m watching as they release. So far, I’m loving it. Anyhow, I’ll have a better idea of everything I’m watching in a couple of weeks.
So, I’ve made it to episode eight of all of my seasonal anime selections for Fall 2018. When I came up with this plan for First Impressions, Second Chances, and Season Reviews, it seemed like a great idea, but there was something I forgot.
Last season, I watched nine series and all but one were twelve episodes long, Hanebado the odd one out with thirteen. With a couple of the shows I’m watching this time around, I was getting concerned that there wasn’t going to be any sort of conclusion in twelve episodes.
Now, that looks like it’s because there are going to be many more than twelve. This would be great if it was in say Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai or Goblin Slayer, but it never works out that way, does it?
As with before, I’m putting the shows into tiers rather than ranking them, but there has been some movement from my First Impressions, so that should make things interesting.
So, of course Radiant has twenty-one episodes… I’m not sure how I made it through eight! I’m not going to say it’s dropped just yet, but it’s incredibly low on my priorities, so it may just slip away after a while.
Thankfully, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is going to go for twenty-four episodes and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll keep my updates to every four episodes. Otherwise, keep an eye out for the series reviews coming in the not too distant future.
I first got into watching the seasonal anime thanks to the latest season of High School DxD. Normally, I would wait until the season had finished so I could binge it. Like watching Game of Thrones, I was determined not to have the season spoiled for me, so I dived in.
It would appear that I caught the bug and soon found myself tuning in to watch another nine series. As the season went on, I felt like something wasn’t quite right for me. Then life got in the way and showed me what the issue was. There were several weeks where I didn’t manage to keep up with my shows and ended up watching the last four episodes of each series in a row.
That’s when the light bulb went off. I’m a binge watcher, so naturally, I need to binge the shows. I also want to keep up with the blogging sphere and not catch too many spoilers, so I decided I would watch each of the shows in blocks of four. After each block, I would have a better idea of the show and whether I was going to continue it.
As of now, I have finished my first round and am waiting for the next batch of episodes to release. It would appear that this would be a perfect opportunity to recap the shows so far. I don’t like to give a rating to shows because it’s all subjective. To combat this, I am putting the shows in tiers.
I’ve not dropped anything yet, but there were a couple that could have gone had I not been watching the first four episodes. It’s going to be interesting to see if anyone changes tier after the next round. Bring me more!
