Magical Girl Raising Project – Season One

What did you watch and why? Again, I was looking for something safe to watch while the kids were around. It had cute animation and magical girls… and oh no… not again!

One line pitch! Cute girls with magical powers murder one another because of a clerical error…

What’s it really about? Koyuki loves Magical Girls. She reads the manga and plays the online game. Then the in-game avatar comes to life and offers her the chance to become a real magical girl, giving her powers and abilities so that she can help people and collect magical candies. At least that’s how it starts. With one small announcement, it suddenly becomes a relentless battle to be the last one standing.

The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar – Season One

What did you watch and why? I’m a sucker for Norse mythology so the title grabbed my attention, as long as it is! Then I saw the image and there was no turning back.

One line pitch! Teenage time traveller rules ancient lands with the help of smartphone…

What’s it really about? That actually pretty much sums it up. Thanks to his smartphone and access to all of the internet, Yuuto Suoh now controls the Wolf Clan and leads their army against invaders. He’s also surrounded by a group of magic-wielding warrior maidens… tough break!

Anyhow, I’d like to say a huge thanks to A Winter’s Reverie for the nomination and the chance to join in with these awesome challenges. I seriously love challenges.

All right, here’s the official stuff before I drop some one-liners on you! Continue reading “The One-Liner Challenge”

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord – Season One

It’s like Overlord but with more meat on the bones. So much more meat! They summoned a Demon Lord to be their slave, but it didn’t work out!

What did you watch and why? When the new season of anime was announced, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord was top of my list and one look at the promo image should tell you why. That’s right, he’s a demon lord…

What’s it really about? A loner, gamer is summoned into a fantasy where he takes on the life of his character, Diablo complete with his physical and magical abilities.

Last week Jon selected Vampire Hunter D as the next classic anime to watch and analyse. Since then, we’ve all watched it and are now ready to break it down. I hope it does better than Street Fighter II did!

One line pitch! Can we get back to talking about blood-sucking vampires…

Any other news? Yes, we released our fifth collection of short stories inspired by classic anime. Fight! Otaku Stories Five is out now, including my story – A Warrior’s Burden.
