If my village was under attack from bandits, it is common knowledge that I would need to hire seven swords for protection. Well, these are my choices.
What is this about? It’s Sunday, so that means it’s time for another list and with Samurai 7 still fresh in my mind I figured I would select my seven sword-wielders to protect my imaginary village from the imaginary bandits…
That’s a lot of ifs and imaginary situations, but what did you expect from an subjective list. I’ve only selected character from shows that I’ve seen, because otherwise how am I supposed to know about them. As with last week, they are ordered alphabetically. Draw!
Akame (Akame ga Kill!)
A trained killer and merciless assassin, Akame knows how to kill the bad guys. She also has a cursed sword, Murasame that will kill with only the slightest cut. One touch from its razor sharp edge and you are done for.
On top of that, she cares for her comrades and is a decent cook. Akame is a team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to win.
Artoria Pendragon (Fate/Stay Night)
Artoria is a legendary spirit of the Saber-class who has fought in several Holy Grail Wars. In life, she was the legendary hero knight and king of Britain, King Arthur. Her sword, Excalibur is truly the stuff of legends and can create devastating attacks.
She is quiet and considered, often contemplating her role in life and whether she truly fulfilled her potential as King.
Now, this may be a little controversial, and I almost picked Theresa over Clare because ultimately, she was better with the sword. The real winner for Clare was her ability to almost awaken the demon within, allowing her to gain incredible strength and turn herself in to a weapon.
Her sword, a claymore is a massive double-handed broadsword that she can wield in one hand. She is incredibly determined and once she’s set her mind to something, there is no turning back.
D (Vampire Hunter D)
D is the half-vampire son of Dracula. Seriously, do I need to go on? Fine! He has most of the strengths of a vampire, but few of their weaknesses. His sword resembles a
His left hand is controlled by a demonic symbiote that can act independently from his body. It can even care for him and bring him back to life if the worst were to happen.
Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan)
Levi started out as a low level criminal, but was recruited to the Survey Corps by Erwin Smith. His natural skills and abilities have seen him climb the ranks with the Survey Corps. He is also one of the most feared warriors, especially when using his vertical maneuvering equipment.
He’s also a clean freak, who cannot stand a dirty work space. His obsession with cleaning makes him seem more normal, but it just gives him another way to torment the new recruits.
Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)
Also known as Pirate Hunter Zoro, he surprisingly joined Luffy as the first member of the Straw-Hat Pirates. He is incredibly loyal, but also has a sense of honour, which he will not betray. Unlike many of the other strong warriors in One Piece, Zoro doesn’t have any devil-fruit powers. His strength has been forged through sheer determination and his commitment to become the world’s greatest swordsman.
To make him even more formidable, he fights with three swords at once. His attacks continue to grow stronger and stronger. Who know’s where his limit is, if he has one?
Saeko Busujima (Highschool of the Dead)
Saeko survived the zombie outbreak with only a wooden training sword to defend herself. Even with a relatively primitive weapon, she made quick work of the walking dead, protecting her friends and helping them to find safety.
She also has a dark side, often seen grinning as she fights, even more so now that she has a real katana.
Anything to add? This was my second Sunday Sevens and so far so good. At least, I think so anyhow. If there are any topics you’d like to see me tackle in my future Sunday Sevens let me know in the comments. As always, thanks for reading.
