Author Journey June 2017

So, it’s been a busy month, just not quite in the way I had hoped. I lost half of my writing time in June when my relatives visited. Obviously, I can’t complain about that, it’s nice to see them, especially as we have the Atlantic ocean between us.

We took a trip down to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara. It’s a long drive from Ottawa, even before you hit the Toronto traffic. My son decided that this was a good time to tell us he wanted to go to the water park. He repeated the sentiments all the way from Toronto to Niagara, over and over and over.

We had a great time down there and a lot of fun in the waterpark. My son can’t swim yet, he’s only two, but has absolutely no fear of the water. He wouldn’t even let me go on the slides with him.

I had hoped to complete the first draft of my series, but I fell a little short of my thirty-thousand-word target. Well, just a little bit. I actually wrote 29,996 words which was pretty close, but I haven’t quite finished volume twenty-six. My total word count for the year is now 248,582. Not bad for six months work.

By my estimation, I have another two scenes and that will be the midway point in the series. Also, I don’t think I’ve revealed the name of my series yet. Originally it was just called ‘Valiant’, however, I have decided to go with ‘Valiant Lineage’, which I think gives it a little more oomph.

There hasn’t been much else outside of writing, relatives visiting and watching Knights of Sidonia. I did jump straight into season two but still have another ten episodes before I’m done.

So, July looks like an easy month for writing. Like I said, I have two scenes left which will end up close to two thousand words. After that, I have the minor feat of having to edit two-hundred and fifty thousand words into something readable. So much for easy!
