Diablo meets up with Celestine so that she can see Clem for with her own eyes, obviously concerned about the presence of another demon lord, but there’s nothing to worry about. Is there?
What did you watch?
This is episode 11 of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord. It’s the penultimate episode, so expect lots of set up as we prepare for the big showdown. Admittedly, everyone seems to have forgotten all about the shocking events of episode 10, so I guess we’ll just get on with things too. As normal there will be spoilers.
As Diablo walked back from the meeting with Celestine, Rem, Clem, and Alicia mysteriously vanished. With a bad feeling about it, Diablo and Shera split up and searched the city. Meanwhile, Alicia led Clem and Rem down a narrow back alley before revealing her disappointment in Clem. After all, isn’t the Demon Lord supposed to kill all the mortal races? Rem realises that Alicia has been working against them, but it’s too late, Saddler has arrived and promptly captures Rem and Clem.
Rem woke in a cage with Clem as Saddler’s men transported them to an abandoned church for interrogation. Aware of what Alicia is trying to do, Rem makes Clem promise not to react, no matter what they do to her, but Saddler being the sadistic fanatic he is, takes things way to far and awakens Clem’s true form. He then tries to take on Krebskulm, but he’s nothing but a tiny insect to her.
What did you think?
So, this is a bit darker than the usual Demon Lord. Seeing Rem being tortured by Saddler is brutal and it definitely makes his sudden demise all the more satisfying. Of course, had it been Alicia doing it, I think it may have made more sense, although she really is the master manipulator, getting everyone else to do her dirty work. It was funny watching Diablo try to ask for help in the tavern. Luckily for him, someone ran in and gave the answer before he was able to say it. I’m definitely looking forward to the next episode.
What was your favourite moment?
I didn’t enjoy the Rem torture scene, although it did lead to Clem getting angry and awakening into Krebskulm. The sheer rage in her eyes is awesome and then the moment that Saddler realised what he was up against was hilarious. Even funnier still, was him thinking that he had a chance against her. Haha! Get lost bug!
What was your least favourite moment?
It should be the torture scene and in a way it is, but not for the obvious reason. So, Saddler and his men have Rem strapped into a chair and are doing unspeakable things to her. Meanwhile, Clem is just standing a few paces away… on her own. They didn’t tie her up or anything. They just left her standing there. It made even less sense once Saddler attacked her removing her cloak. Even worse again, Clem was kneeling next to Rem as Saddler drove four swords into her back. At what point, was he planning on dealing with the demon lord? Even if he only thought she was a Fallen, that should have been cause enough for concern. It made no sense to me.
Who was your favourite character?
As crazy as it may seem, I loved the emergence of evil Alicia. Watching this series a second time, I’ve been able to see the subtle moments that are enough to place the doubt in your mind about her. There are lots of them, but nothing (apart from the flashback of her standing in a clearing surrounded by corpses, although I think they tried to hide her face) really gave her away. It was cool that she was also the least likely of the characters to turn out to be a demon lord loving lunatic.
Who was your least favourite character?
I mean, this one is way too easy. Saddler is a massive dick, always has been, always will be, so seeing him torture Rem, attack Clem just solidified that. Then get obliterated by Krebskulm was almost too good of an outcome for him. He deserved far worse, but at least he’s gone.
Would you like some more?
No, why would I possibly want to see the final episode which includes the epic fight between Diablo and Krebskulm… that would make me crazier than Alicia and I’m nowhere near that bad. Of course, I’ll be back for the final episode. I do still hope that we’ll get a second season and maybe me revisiting it will help. Probably not, but I’m going to try anyway.
Still want more?
I’m also covering this series over on EcchiHunter.com with more of a focus on the ecchi elements. There are even more images of Shera and Rem as well, so what are you waiting for? Click here… you know you want to!
