Diablo attempts to remove the Demon Lord Krebsulm from Rem by resurrecting it. He’s not too worried that it means working with Edelgard as she wants to resurrect the Demon Lord and he wants to kill it.
What did you watch?
The first time I watched this series there was one very specific moment that really stuck in my mind and that happens to be in this episode. This is episode 10 of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord and I hope you’re ready to be shocked. I’m just going to dive straight in, but don’t forget there will be spoilers.
Diablo took Rem, Shera, and Alicia to a tower where Edelgard was waiting. She was going to help them resurrect Krebskulm and complete her mission as a fallen. Diablo was fine with this because he wanted to save Rem and kill Krebskulm so, two birds with one stone sort of thing. Now, when I said Edelgard was going to help, I’m not sure exactly what she did other than to offer a pointer when needed… maybe she added the summoning lines to the tower?
Anyhow, after a rather shocking incident, Diablo managed to resurrect Kebskulm, although she wasn’t nearly as terrifying as they had expected. Instead of a giant all-powerful demon lord with the intent to kill the mortal races, they found themselves face to face with a small girl with no memory of how to kill everyone and a greater affinity to cookies than killing.
What did you think?
This episode was a shocker! I laughed so hard the first time watching and even knowing what was coming, I still laughed just as hard this time. That rather interesting incident aside, which I will get to later, there was a lot of good moments in this episode. More hints to Alicia’s grand plan and we got to see one of the strongest Fallen get beaten by Diablo. This series is excellent because it managed to walk a fine line between serious moments, comedic moments, and just straight-up outrageous moments, which were hilarious.
What was your favourite moment?
If you’ve seen this episode, then you know the moment. We’ve just learnt that for Diablo to resurrect Krebskulm he’ll need to get his magic inside of Rem, but, of course, he’s not prepared to cut open her stomach to do so. Well, luckily for everyone, Edelgard suggests there might be another way and then makes a fairly lewd gesture with her first two fingers and her little finger… that’s right, it’s the shocker! Anyhow, I loved everyone’s reactions, especially Diablo’s.
What was your least favourite moment?
I don’t there is really much to choose from here. The entire episode falls into three distinct scenes, maybe four. The summoning, the resurrection, fighting the Fallen, and recharging Diablo’s MP. All of these were great with maybe the fight being the least entertaining part, but only because it didn’t go on long enough.
Who was your favourite character?
It’s Diablo again. I loved his reaction to the shocker and the absurd situation he found himself in. Even with all of his edgy demon lord persona, it was hard to overcome that moment for this socially-anxious shut-in. That said, he powered through was Rem had sighed and just told him to get on with it. Then, on top of that, Shera and Clem (previously Krebskulm) helped him recharge his MP, which was also hilarious thanks to his expressions and reactions.
Who was your least favourite character?
Other than her behind the scenes dealings, Alicia was as useful as a rock in this episode. I know she has an interest in everything and it will all come to fruition, but if I’m picking my least favourite character it’s going to be her in this episode.
Would you like some more?
In this episode, we were shocked and then surprised and then shocked some more. Krebskulm being happy to be called Clem and hang out with Diablo and Shera because they have cookies was hilarious. Then Shera getting Clem to help her recharge Diablo was also brilliant. What a way to welcome her to the group and fluster Diablo in the process. This would be a very different show if not for Diablo’s internal struggles and general awkwardness. It certainly wouldn’t be as funny. Anyhow, of course, I want some more. There’s only two episodes left.
Still want more?
I’m also covering this series over on EcchiHunter.com with more of a focus on the ecchi elements. There are even more images of Shera and Rem as well, so what are you waiting for? Click here… you know you want to!
