Senku agrees to go with Kohaku to her village in hopes of creating his nation of science to combat Tsukasa. However, when they get there, Senku’s not allowed in and somehow ends up in a sorcerer battle!
What did you watch?
We finally got to meet the other survivor and she was a real firecracker, trying to take on Tsukasa. It didn’t end as she had hoped, but then Senku showed up and helped her out. It’s time to find out more about Kohaku in episode 7 of Dr. Stone. Of course, Senku has just parted ways with Taiju and Yuzuriha, so it’s probably for the best that he finds someone new before the monkeys start talking to him again! There will be spoilers, so be prepared…
Kohaku revealed that she liked Senku, however, he wanted to make things quite clear that the idea of a romantic involvement was completely illogical and would only lead to trouble. Of course, that’s not what Kohaku meant. She liked his thought process and diligence when tackling a task. His skills would be very useful in her village. Senku agreed to go with her, if he’s to build a nation of science, he’s going to need manpower.
When they get to the village, however, Senku is not allowed in. They believe that anyone that is not from the village is someone that must have been banished at some point. I guess that proves that they are unaware of a formula to reverse the petrification. As Kohaku tries to plead his case, a mysterious character calling himself Chrome appears and challenges Senku to a magic duel…
What did you think?
If I’m honest, I’m glad that the Tsukasa chase is over. He’s a great character, but I think they pushed that part of the story a little too soon. That said, I absolutely loved this episode. The interactions between Senku and Chrome were so entertaining. Even three-thousand years in the future, nerds are alive and well. Watching the others stare in bewilderment and then boredom was hilarious. It looks like things will settle down a bit and we can do some more science experiments.
What was your favourite moment?
Well, it had to be the sorcerer duel between Senku and Chrome. It was great seeing the reaction of Kohaku and the guards as Chrome changed the colour of the flames and created static electricity. Even funnier, when Senku easily explained and then enhanced the ‘magic’. The best bit, however, was when Senku realised that he wasn’t dealing with someone from his time who would have had access to books and research, but someone who had reached this stage all on his own. It changed his perspective from mocking the primitive science to respecting Chrome for his method.
What was your least favourite moment?
I was a little disappointed not to see a little bit of Taiju and Yuzuriha. It didn’t really affect my overall enjoyment of the episode, but even just a couple of seconds of them looking for Tsukasa would have been nice. Otherwise, I don’t think there was much to fault in this episode. It was a lot of fun and interesting to gleam all the little nuggets of information from the village.
Who was your favourite character?
Chrome. Definitely Chrome. He’s a great companion for Senku as it gives him the chance to explain what’s going on and what he’s trying to do. If it’s just Senku he can just do it, but now we get the chance to discover everything with Chrome. His enthusiasm is contagious and I’m looking forward to all the crazy experiments they conduct.
Who was your least favourite character?
The easy answer would be the grumpy guard that Senku gifted the gold spear, but he’s just doing his job and he wouldn’t be a very good guard if he just let anyone wander in. So, I’m not going to pick one for this episode. I was just having way too much fun to worry about the negatives.
Would you like some more?
I wanted more Kohaku and I got it, but was it really enough? The short answer is no and the long answer is basically the same but with more words, so I won’t bother you with that. It’s safe to say that I am still enjoying this series and am excited to see where it goes and how much more of Kohaku we get. Of course, I will be cheering on Chrome and Senku and I’d love to see how Taiju and Yuzuriha manage to convince Tsukasa that they want to be a part of his society. There’s lots more to come.
