Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? (Season One)

Do You Love Your Mom And Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks Title

Summoned to another world, Masato can finally go on an adventure and come back a better person, but then his overbearing mom followed him and looks to be hogging all of the action!

What did you watch?

There were several Isekai titles this season, but one of them stood out from the others and that was Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? It appeared to be a situation where a teenage boy and his mom get taken to another world where they can go on adventures together. Sounds crazy, but that’s what I liked about it. So, I covered this series episodically over on EcchiHunter.com and I’ll share the links at the end of this post, but for now, let’s talk about the season. There will be spoilers.

Do You Love Your Mom And Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks Episode 1 Mamako Makes An Impression

What happened?

So, Masato was transported to another world along with his mother, Mamako. She is overly protective and always in his business, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she has on this occasion too. They are welcomed to the world which they discover is actually a video game and given a powerful item to start them off. Mamako manages to claim two items and both are far more powerful than the one Masato got. They head off to the nearby town and look to put together a party. Mamako has the final say on who gets in.

With a party assembled they head off on their first quest which sees them battle a giant slime monster, Mamako’s clothes getting dissolved, and everything is generally quite awkward. Having defeated the slime, Shirase, the GM sends them on a new quest. This sets them on a path that will bring them up against Wise’s mother. There appears to be someone influencing the events outside of the GMs watch and it’s up to Masato and Mamako to find out who.

What did you think?

I really enjoyed the series up until the end of episode two. After that, it started to decline until the last four or five episodes were just a complete bore. This series promised to be a wild take on the Isekai genre, but it ended up being another boring slice of life anime. I’m not judging you if you like slice of life. It’s just not for me and definitely not when I’m expecting adventuring and monsters and swords and cute girls. We got some of those, but not all at the same time.

What was your favourite moment?

The battle with the giant slime was exactly what I was expecting from this series. It was funny and entertaining. There were awkward moments and incredibly awkward moments, but they were all pretty funny. Even the action was entertaining at that point. Maybe it was because we’d not seen too much of Mamako’s overpowered attacks that they were still funny. If the series had continued like this I would have probably loved it, but it didn’t.

What was your least favourite moment?

At one point in the series, they joined an adventurers school in an attempt to gain some valuable experience points. This was where they met Medhi and her mother who was determined to make Medhi number one. The school arc went on and on. Seriously, I thought we were going on adventures. Not sitting in classrooms and taking stupid pop quizzes that only Mamako could answer. It all just got stupid.

Who was your favourite character?

It’s was a tough decision between Masato and Medhi. I empathise with Masato as he seemed to struggle with just how boring the quests were and then Medhi made a similar comment when she joined the party. At least Medhi has a darker side and is a little more interesting. She’s also way better to look at than Masato… So, Medhi wins!

Who was your least favourite character?

That would be Amante. She was a terrible villain and her character made little to no sense, especially as we never found out why she was trying to get rid of all of the moms. I’m half expecting it to be something equally ridiculous like she’s a daddy’s girl whose parents split up. Whatever! We may never know… or I may never know because even if there is a second season, I can’t confirm that I’ll watch it after struggling through this one.

Would you like some more?

I’d basically repeat what I just said. This series was a huge disappointment for me. I was expecting something similar to How Not to Summon a Demon Lord and this didn’t even come close. It may have started out funny, but it just kept going with the lame mom jokes and it never really did anything of note. Even the challenges they faced ended up being boring with shopping trips, house cleaning, washing dishes, and cleaning clothes. It got very tired very quickly. I did not enjoy this series.

What have you learnt?

Trying new ideas is great. I think there’s a lot to take away from this series, but sadly, for me, most of it is what not to do. There are expectations with genres and while you can bend them and show things they weren’t expecting if you take it too far in any direction you can end up disappointing the reader. Expectations play into how much you enjoy something. You can try to be completely open, but there will be things that don’t go as you thought and it can disrupt the experience.

  1. I let this one go fairly early on and after reading a lot of reviews, both positive and negative ones, I really don’t think I’ll go back and watch anymore. It definitely doesn’t seem like it is for me.

I feel like it tried to pull people in with one idea and then ditched it to do something else and I don’t there’s a lot of overlap so you just annoy those that come in expecting one show and the real target audience will be put off by the beginning. It just didn’t work for me at all and I got more and more bored as it went on.

  2. Yeah, I didn’t really like this anime. It seemed a little too over the top for me and awkward so i got uncomfortable and dropped it right after episode 2.
I mean the manga artist does nsfw stuff so i guess that explains why its beyond ecchi!

    • Lynn Sheridan

For me that was part of the problem. After episode two there was minimal ecchi content and it switched to an odd slice of life style show. So if you were after the ecchi you would be disappointed beyond episode two and if you like slice of life you’re not getting past episode two. I still can’t quite work out what this show was trying to be, because it didn’t do either convincingly.

    • I see! tbh I do like slice of life stuff but it doesnt sound like the show is really worth watching more of from what I’ve read about it. I don’t mind ecchi but it seemed a bit weird for me like it just seemed like implied incest(?) and im not into that D: It might not be but the relationship between mother and son seemed suggestive, and thats why I dropped it. If they were going for slice of life, i think they shouldve gone full out with it for that audience looking to watch that content such as myself but ehh go figure.

    • Lynn Sheridan

I think it’s only going to appeal to a small subset of fans that like both genres and even then it doesn’t do either particularly well.
