Author Journey December 2018

Lynn Sheridan Author Journey December 2018

Any big announcements?

Not really. I had a very nice Christmas at home with the family. We cooked a turkey and all the trimming, and it turned out to be very nice. I got a new laptop after struggling with my last one for eight years. The new one is silent by comparison and a million times faster, so that should aid my productivity no end.

How’s the writing going?

At the moment it’s not really going at all. I’m still working on a cat-girl short for Otaku Stories volume seven. The first draft is done, now I just have to edit it and we can release that. I’ve decided that I am going to pause Valiant Lineage so that I can get the edits done on a collaborative trilogy that I’ve been working on for over a year now. It’s going to be awesome. Here’s a sneak peek at the first cover.

Done anything interesting?

Last month, I rewatched and reread all of the Highschool of the Dead anime and manga. On top of that, I wrote reviews of everything and a series of character posts. It’s one of my all-time favourite anime series, if not the favourite, and I hadn’t seen it in at least three years. I also came across a pretty damning review, so I thought I would counter it.

Highschool of the Dead Title

What have you been watching?

On top of Highschool of the Dead, I’ve been keeping up with the 2018 Fall anime. So far, I’ve not dropped any shows and even managed to finish one. It was only available with subtitles, which meant it released faster than the other shows I’m watching, which was a good thing because it’s now one of my favourite shows of the year – Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. I know, it has a silly title, but it’s a very very good series. Trust me!

Last month, I announced that I had read 100 manga in 2018, well this month, I completed the second half of my annual challenge – watching 1,000 anime episodes/movies. It sounds like a lot, but total viewing time was probably less than when I watched 365 films in a year.

What have you been reading?

All I’ve read this month was the two full-colour hardback editions of the Highschool of the Dead manga. That is the equivalent of seven regular manga, so I guess it’s not to be sniffed at.

Any plans for next month?

Nope. Nothing planned at all. After two months of posting here daily, it feels good to not have anything hanging over me. I’m going to keep up with the seasonal anime and I’ve got some more manga to get through, but my main focus has got to be getting the first draft of Black Death edited so we can release those in quarter one of 2019.

I have decided on a challenge for the new year. Another blogger, Yomu has been working through an A to Z Anime challenge, where you try to watch a show starting with each letter of the alphabet. Well, I’m going to do that.

I’ve also got another project similar to Highschool of the Dead December that I plan on doing in the summer, so look out for that. It’s going to be epic!

Good luck on the book and the anime challenge! (Really looking forward to the book. . .)

Thanks. We’ve written the first draft of two and two-thirds of the trilogy. That’s my character on the cover of the first book. Got to sit down and get some edits done.
