Got any big announcements?
Last month, I talked about how this site had two-thousand views in July, which was the best month ever. Well, in August it jumped up to a crazy four-thousand views. Mind blown! I’m pretty sure, I can thank Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba for some of that success, especially as it started trending on Twitter after the incredible nineteenth episode. Anyhow, seeing growth like this is encouraging and makes me want to do more.
How’s the writing going?
It’s been slow… very slow, but once the summer vacations have finished, I’m hoping to find my groove again and get back to working on the Black Death series and my new ideas for Valiant Lineage, which will be getting a complete rewrite. I’m excited for both and can’t wait to get back to work on a more consistent basis.
Have you done anything interesting?
One thing from last month stands out for me and that was my contribution to the Space is the Place blog tour to celebrate fifty years since the moon landing. I put together a review of the music video for Porter Robinson + Madeon’s song – Shelter. It’s an anime music video that tells a beautifully tragic story which is infinitely rewatchable and at only six minutes long, I would definitely recommend you watch it. I embed the video in my post so you don’t even need to look for it.
What have you been watching?
Currently, I’m covering all of these shows here on The Otaku Author. It’s a lot, probably too much, so we’ll see what I take on next season once most of these have finished. Dr. Stone and Fire Force are both double-length seasons, so they’ll definitely continue.
- Fruits Basket
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
- Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II
- Dr. Stone
- Fire Force
- Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest
- How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
For Ecchi Hunter, I’m also covering these.
- Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?
- Are You Lost?
- How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?
- YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of This World
I’m enjoying almost all of them a lot and a couple of them somewhat, but the best of the bunch, in my opinion, is How Heavy are the Dumbbells You Lift? It’s just the funniest and most inspiring show in the bunch and some of these are really good. If you’ve ever been to a gym, I guarantee that you’ll be laughing non-stop.
What have you been reading?
Nothing! I know, I’m a complete slacker, but then I have been very busy so I’m not that worried. I’ll get back to it soon enough.
Do you have any plans for next month?
My top priority to get back into writing/editing fiction. I’ve been out of it for quite a while now, with just the occasional bit of work as and when I can fit it in. In 2017, I wrote over three-hundred-thousand words in the first half of the year, so I know I can do it, I’ve just got to take the brakes off and get moving again. I’ve got lots of projects that I want to get to, so watch this space.
Do you have any recommendations for anime, manga, or anything really? Do you have an idea for a discussion post for here or Ecchi Hunter? If you want to talk about it, I’m sure we can fit you in. Thanks again for reading.
