What is an anime you want to watch but haven’t yet? (30 Day Anime Challenge) – Day 17

30 Day Anime Challenge

What is an anime you want to watch but haven’t yet?

All. Of. Them! All right fine, I’ll pick just one. There is one anime that caught my attention a little while back when the trailer first circulated on YouTube. Since then, I’ve been keeping an eye on where it’s available. So far, it’s exclusive to Amazon Prime so I haven’t seen it yet. That anime is Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

Why is that?

Seriously? Watch the trailer! It is set during an industrial revolution, so pretty much steampunk. The infected undead is attacking the fortified cities, so post-apocalyptic zombies. I’m not sure what else to say. It just all sounds epic to me.

I do wonder if the inability to get hold of a copy is making me want to see it more, although that probably just means it’s on my most wanted list because I haven’t been able to just sit down and watch it.

As a content producer myself, I don’t condone pirating media so I’m not about to get a copy that way. Maybe, in the near future, I’ll look to get an Amazon Prime subscription or it might become available elsewhere, but until then I will just have to look fondly at the trailer.

Anything else you’d like to say?

The best thing about wanting to watch lots of anime is that even if I can’t watch Kabaneri right now, there is plenty that I can get on with. I just love watching anime!

  1. I think at some point I’ll have to get an amazon subscription again because they seem to be getting more and more titles each season. That said, there’s just nothing else on the service I want and the anime selection wasn’t wide enough to justify the cost when I did a trial subscription so after it ran out I just let it go. Still, I guess we’ll see what happens now that Funi/Crunchy split has happened and where anime goes for streaming next season.

    • Yeah, we did a Prime trial but mostly for the free two day deliveries. It’s a shame you can’t just get it all in one place. I think one day I will bite the bullet, but like you say, once they have more content.

    • I keep a Netflix subscription, but that’s because there’s plenty of other content I’m interested in watching that isn’t anime related and if they would just release their anime as it streamed rather than waiting until the end of the season, it would be great. But the selection on Amazon available in Australia is just… meh. After a month of going through all the available content, I think I found maybe one movie I hadn’t seen that I was interested in watching. It just wasn’t worth it.

    • I was living in New Zealand three years ago and there was almost no streaming options without faking your location. I live in Canada now so have access to most services. I have Netflix and Funimation, and use iTunes for anything I’m desperate to watch.

  2. I’m lucky enough to have ways to watch it legally and it was definitely something special.

    • Yeah, I hate exclusive stuff. I want to give them my money for the series, I just don’t to pay for full Amazon prime. It’s like Game of Thrones all over again. I want to pay for HBO but not all the over crap on cable.

    • Well, I guess that’s just how these companies get more money out of us. It really does suck.

    • You’ve got to wonder though sometimes. Game of Thrones has four million illegal downloads per episode. I’d probably pay up to $5 an episode to watch it live. Even if they charged $1 an episode I think they’d get a lot of money. More than they’re getting from having these exclusive ties with one provider.
